6 pm Performance Dance class for Easter:
When The Saints Go Marchin' In!
This class will incorporate singing and dancing in many different styles: Vernacular Jazz, Swing, Lindy Hop, Charleston, Hip Hop/Beatbox and Gospel! Please join us for an incredibly fun, simple, yet powerful expression of joy through dance and song, celebrating faith and hope. Dont worry if you feel you
cant sing, most singing will be done in groups. Opportunities for solo singing is available if you would like to add your talent to the performance. Partner and individual dancing taught. This class is geared towards teens and adults, however all ages 9 and up are welcome!!! Starts Saturdays: Jan 23, 5 weeks, $25. Family rates for 3 or more available.

7 pm Social/Ballroom Dance Sampler for Beginners:
Foxtrot, Tango, and Mirengue.
This introductory class is designed to give you the basics in different styles of Social/Ballroom Dance. Basic steps, styling, and principles of lead and follow will be taught in a fun, encouraging atmosphere to slow music. This class is an excellent way to prepare for social dances, weddings, and a great way to have a date night, or parent/child opportunity. Social dance teaches balance, poise, dance etiquette and builds social graces. 5 weeks starts Saturday Jan. 23, $25.
Ages 10 - Adult. Family rates for 3 or more available.

Side note: Foxtrot is the most popular dance for weddings and Social dancing these days, and a great place to start learning to dance too. Tango has always captured the romantic heart, and Merengue is one of the simplest of Latin dances. A great combination of dances to start your journey
onto the dance floor.

8 pm Beginning Swing & Lindy Hop:
The most joyful of all dances. Swing & Lindy Hop also know as "Jitterbug" is the dance of the Big Band era. It grew out of early Jazz and Charleston in the 1920's, is America's only original dance form, and has a tremendous following all over the world. Swing incorporates vernacular jazz, 20's & 30's charleston, and the popular moves of swing dance that carried our nation through the great depression and exploded back onto the dance scene in the 1990's. This is an incredibly cheerful and fun dance, perfect for all ages from 10 to 90, but especially for teens and young adults. This class will combine 6 & 8 count Swing. Dont miss this class!!! 5 weeks starts Saturday Jan. 23, $25. Ages 10 - Adult. Family rates for 3 or more available.

This would be a great time to catch up for students that were in my last March session when I had to leave because of my dads accident. For those students, gift certificates ( or email me ) are available and you can transfer your credit to others. Usually classes are not transferable to others but in this case I do want to make up my time to you. Thank you very much for your patience in this matter.

For the last 16 years I have been running my own dance studios called the Joint is Jumpin! in various cities throughout Oregon, teaching Swing and Ballroom both locally and internationally. Due to my busy travelling schedule I have downsized my Oregon studios and am excited to join forces with Lindsey at Breakdown Dance Studio.

A few highlights of my career are: for 4 years I was the resident Swing dance teacher at the amazing Crystal Ballroom in Portland Oregon, teaching a 2 hour Swing & Lindy Hop lesson to 600-800 dancers every Sunday, followed by the best live Swing bands of the new swing era. For 10 years running I was invited to teach and perform with the Legendary Frankie Manning, the Father of Swing dance, in England. I have a well rounded background in ballet, tap, flamenco, modern, jazz and ballroom, however I am an expert in Swing, Lindy Hop, Vernacular Jazz, Charleston and Blues. I am a very patient, nurturing teacher as I truly love watching my students learn and grow.

CLASS DEFINITIONS:

SWING BLUES:
a close but comfortable style of classic 20's Blues mixed with wonderful Swing & Tango variations. THE perfect place to begin dancing, or to learn how to dance to those lovely slow songs.

Wedding & Ballroom Classes:
Focusing on one or two dances these classes in
Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba & Cha Cha teach basic steps, lead/follow, and styling. Privates for the first wedding dance
include choreography, personal attention, entering the dance floor and finishing the dance with style. Group rates for wedding parties.

LINDY HOP BASICS:
The first original Swing Dance! Learn or review the necessary 8 count Lindy Basics, lead/follow, style & frame, in this most joyful dance!

INTERMEDIATE LINDY HOP:
Always great new steps, focusing on lead/follow, styling & musicality. Must know 8 count Lindy Basics fluidly.
